Baidu’s Deep Speech and built a large supercomputer dedicated to training deep neural networks, why and for what ?? Purpose
Lets find out in here with the info i got to know about Baidu
#Research for Industry use-cases of Neural Networks elaborating how it works.
Founded: 1 January 2000, Beijing, China.
Google isn’t the only search giant that’s branching out into machine learning. Chinese search engine Baidu is also investing heavily in the applications of AI ?? Yes, you heard me right !!!
its === @ BAIDU ===China Search Engine with 1.6 Billion active users.
Baidu competes with Google Search, 360 Search (www.so.com), Sogou Search (www.sogou.com), Yahoo! China, Microsoft’s Bing and MSN Messenger, Sina, NetEase’s Youdao, Tencent’s Soso.com and PaiPai, Alibaba’s Taobao, TOM Online, and EachNet.
The need of superiority over the technology has begun from late 2000s. To make a global platform as much like google and microsoft, their evolved *BAIDU*
Baidu is the most used search engine in China, controlling 76.05 percent of China’s market share. The number of Internet users in China had reached 705 million by the end of 2015, according to a report by the internetlivestats.com.
PURPOSE OF BAIDU:
Baidu focuses on generating revenues primarily from online marketing services. Baidu’s pay for placement (P4P) platform enables its customers to reach users who search for information related to their products or services.
DuerOS is Baidu’s voice assistant:
Since Baidu can leverage its expansive data set, its voice assistant called DuerOS has accumulated more conversation-based skill sets than Alexa, Siri or Cortana. Partnering with other tech companies is one way Baidu hopes to accelerate innovation. They have teamed up with more than 130 DuerOS partners, and the voice assistant is in more than 100 brands of appliances such as refrigerators, TVs, and speakers.
Why Baidu is our topic ??
Since homes in India, Japan, Europe, and Brazil are more like homes in China, there may be better opportunities for DuerOS to globalize since Alexa, Cortana and Echo are optimized for American households. So interact with the Asian style of voice assistant over delivery of natural human voice with fair clarity unlike its error rate.
One of the most interesting (and disconcerting) developments at Baidu’s R&D lab is what the company calls Deep Voice, a deep neural network that can generate entirely synthetic human voices that are very difficult to distinguish from genuine human speech.
The network can “learn” the unique subtleties in the cadence, accent, pronunciation and pitch to create eerily accurate recreations of speakers’ voices.
Far from an idle experiment, Deep Voice 2 — the latest iteration of the Deep Voice technology — promises to have a lasting impact on natural language processing, the underlying technology behind voice search and voice pattern recognition systems. This could have major implications for voice search applications, as well as dozens of other potential uses, such as real-time translation and biometric security.
What is neural network ??
Neural network, a computer program that operates in a manner inspired by the natural neural network in the brain. The objective of such artificial neural networks is to perform such cognitive functions as problem solving and machine learning.
Why do we need neural networks ??
In order to achieve the automatic task to pick the right feature other than using Lasso regression for feature selection or by the statistical methods but as the over large no. of features these techniques don’t help us out.
“With deep learning, it just keeps going up.”
And also for the Accuracy to increase along with datasets that we have trained the model. based on this reason where the accuracy becomes stable after certain learning rate for a model by using statistical techniques unlike the same in neural networks. So we prefer these in our real time applications.
Baidu and its other research aspirations
Baidu has started to invest in deep learning research and is integrating new deep learning technology into some of its apps and products, including Phoenix Nest. Phoenix Nest is Baidu’s ad-bidding platform.
DO YOU KNOW
In April 2012 Baidu JDC long live applied for a patent for its “DNA copyright recognition” technology.
This technology automatically scans files that are uploaded by Internet users, and recognizes and filters out content that may violate copyright law. This allows Baidu to offer an infringement-free platform.[104][105]
Baidu has applied for a utility patent in the UK, for its proprietary site-wise search technology which is currently available in China.[citation needed]
Image recognition as a first achievement:)===> (Done by BAIDU)
The project started in October 2013, after an interesting discussion on a high-speed train from Beijing to Suzhou.
Baidu running over the SEO to have much better advancement using neural networks by speech recognition and with native human voice:
Results of these show:
The system trained on Baidu’s new computer was wrong only 4.58 percent of the time.
The previous best was 4.82 percent, reported by Google in March.
One month before that, Microsoft had reported achieving 4.94 percent, becoming the first to better average human performance of 5.1 percent.

- DuerOS is a leading voice assistant for the Chinese language with installed base surpassing 400 million, up 4.5 fold year over year, and monthly voice queries surpassing 3.6 billion, up 7.5 fold year over year in June.
- DuerOS skills store has released over 2,400 skills in wide-ranging genres, including Xueersi (education), YY (live streaming), Meituan (local services) and China Construction Bank (financial services), and the DuerOS developer community has expanded to over 33,000 members.
China is preparing much bigger Models of image, speech and natural language processing and lot more to improve the efficiency of the work with automated precision wise automated work.

Other details of the massive growth in the name of Machine Learning in China:
Baidu has more than 7,000 published AI patent applications in China, the highest in the country. The AI open platform Baidu Brain has made available more than 250 core AI capabilities to over 1.9 million developers, while PaddlePaddle, the largest open-source deep learning platform in China, services 84,000 enterprises.
Industries throughout China are using the PaddlePaddle platform to create specialized applications for their sectors, from the automotive industry’s acceleration of autonomous vehicles to the health-care industry’s applications for fighting COVID-19.
Here is major sign of GROWTH in the BAIDU, as it got collaborated with Intel:
Stay Ahead of future Updates in neural networks.
Keep Sharing Keep Learning.
